You can get cheaper printer food on other sites; get an external stand to hold the spindles.
Try exploring different materials to expand kid's creativity.
Learning 3D printing is not about becoming an expert. It is about understanding the possibilities or knowing the tools (just like a plumber - knowing there is a power drill to maximize his productivity).
Today's Paradigm: Mass Production & Scaling. Products are mass manufactured for generic sizes and shipped to a customer.
"I predict that manufacturing will turn upside down, going from mass production to custom-made. We will all own or have shared 3D printers for different things, and we will be buying only the designs. So, learning how to design will be a great career for future generations" - The Why Man.
Tomorrow's Paradigm: Creator Economy - Anyone can design a product & sell just the design. End users can customize the design and print it in their house, or community printers, retailer outlet printers, or distribution center printers with all kinds of materials (Toys, T-shirts, Basketballs, Play structures, Rockets, and so on)
The kids will get introduced to a 3D printer. They can browse through the catalog, find something they like, and click to print. They can print a collection of toys about a specific theme, like animals, superheroes, etc.
The kids can create 3D models using templates already provided in the Creator Space app. So they’ll get introduced to the skill of using the software app and, in addition, print something they put together on their own.
They can draw simple to very complicated objects or upload a picture to print. The kids get to build their imagination. They can create 3D models of varying degrees of complexity from scratch using the Creator Space app and hit print.

Many things you might not even thought about
Purpose: Validate the approach with a small set of students
Who: 5 KG students from Pinewood School got together
When: One Monthly Meetup since Jan 2022 - Present
What:
Electricity using Snap Circuits
Artificial Intelligence with Picture This app - Bug and Tree Hunting Party :-)
Robotics using "Clickbot"
Lessons Learned:
Kids were very curious to learn and retained a lot more information than expected
Logistics co-ordination is still a challenge as it is considered an early state experiment
Next Considerations:
Execute these in a little bit more formal context
Conduct challenges to keep kids engaged and become curious
Purpose: Expand the program to a larger group with a little bit more formal structure and validate the approach
Who: Kids at Palo Alto Elks Lodge.
When: WhyKid Wednesdays from Aug 2022 - Dec 2022
What:
3D printing - Why do we need to learn about it?
Lessons Learned:
Kids were very curious to learn and retained a lot more information than expected
Logistics are much simpler
Purpose: Expand the program by partnering with public libraries to help kids in local communities
Who: Los Altos Public Library, California, USA
When: May 5th, 2023. https://sccl.bibliocommons.com/events/63ed4f260470e64100bb4c34
What:
3D printing - Why do we need to learn about it?
Lessons Learned:
The demo was a massive success.
Kids and parents were very curious to learn about this technology
Some actually bought "Toybox" before and didn't know how to use or didn't realize why it is important to teach their kids about it.
